Snowflake aka Ross Update

I apologize for getting back to you so late regarding your phone call inquiry as to how Ross is doing.  We adopted him back at the end of November.  He has brought pure joy to our family!  His new name is Snowflake, for reasons that are obvious, as his beautiful white coat reminds the children of new-fallen snow.  We all just adore him and he is thriving!  He eats well, sleeps at the foot of our bed (as well as naps often during the day).  He loves to play, is amazingly receptive to new children that come to the house for playdates, and he is very loved.  He is very nimble and coordinated – quite an athlete, really, when he bats a ball around or jumps in the air!

We are so happy to have  him in our family.  I am attaching a few photos of him – we have several more that are on my husband’s iphone, and I had been waiting for him to forward them to my email to send with a note, but I didn’t want to wait any longer to write, so here are just a few.  Best wishes to you and thank you for a wonderful experience in adopting Snowy!

Best,

Lynda Stone/Andy Zelman

April is adopted!

April had a rough road to her happy ending but she has surely found her way.  April was very sick when she came to us.  Once she started feeling better, she was ready to find her new home.  Lucky girl found her new family and has a new doggie friend too!

Nella update!

Here is an update on Nella.

Hi Laura,

I hope you are well today.  Tony wanted me to send you these pictures of Nalla and Shabba.  She is doing well.  She is eating treats out of every body's hands and she is eating in the kitchen where Shabba eats although she is a little skittish when she is eating.  She has had two accidents in the house, but we are working with her and they were really our fault for not getting up and taking her outside.

She plays really good with Shabba in the house and I am looking up information that is helping me to identify her behaviors so I can help her.  We have taken her for walks.  We still have her on the leash when she is in the yard, we need to fix a couple of areas to make sure she cannot get out.  We did not realize they may be an issue because of her size.  She has been taken to the vet and she had been micro-chipped.  We got the rabies information that you sent us in the mail and we will be able to get her license soon.  She is still a sweetheart to us all.

She is wagging her tail a lot.  She is getting used to my husband and my sons.  She makes us laugh a lot and she is being obedient to some commands.

Here are some pics of Nalla in her new home.  Just wanted to give you an update and I hope you like the pictures.

Nella goes home!

Great news for Nella.  Rescued from the New Haven pound after being pulled from a home with 14 other dogs, she was fearful but has been coming out of her shell with us at POA.  This lucky girl landed in a new home with a loving family and new dog friend.  Here is Nella (on left) with her new family.

Yogi gets his forever after...

Yogi the yellow lab went into foster with to stay with POA volunteers John and Dee.  And apparently he fit is so well that in their home is where he stays.  Check out an update from Dee and a photo of Maui (his new name) with his new brother!

Maui is a JOY, we have had some rough moments.. shoe...cats....but we a committed to him.  He and Alaska get along great, drink from the same water bowl, even though there are two.  Eating next to each other, Maui always finishes first and comes over to me to wait for Alaska to finish.  Beds are next to each other, Maui has tried to initiate play but Alaska is not quite sure yet.  Alaska woke up sore on Friday and is now on meds and supplements  starting up walking again and I think Maui jumped on him trying to get to the cat.  We have a follow appt with the vet on May 10th and will bring Maui for the visit to meet our vet, Dr Heather.  I gave her a briefing when I brought Alaska in.  We are playing more fetch with Maui now that our walking has been limited, he is a great fetcher. Alas...we are a failed foster.....

Olive's happy ever after...

Great news to report from Olive in her new home.

Hi Laura-

Olive is doing well!  She is a bit anxious but she is good to let us know when she is worried.  As you know she is quite the talker!

We tried to make her first day as smooth as possible (even though we were stressed about the events unfolding in Boston).  She had her own bed and crate.  She took to the crate immediately and instantly seemed more calm once she knew she had a safe space that is her own.

She does great on walks. She's already gone to our local dog park and has done very well.

As with all dogs who are introduced to a new home there some things we need to work with her on.  She does express some separation anxiety.  As you predicted she has already attached herself to me and does wine and bark when I leave and she does follow me around the house.  She also becomes protective of her food when Cody (our other dog) is around.  We immediately laid the ground rules for food.  They eat in separate rooms and are not allowed in the kitchen when we are cooking.  Considering it's only been three days I think she is doing well.  I know these things take time so we are trying to stick to our routines as much as possible to help her along.

Tomorrow she starts doggie day care so I'll send an update on how she does.  I've attached some pictures and will definitely send more!
Best, Lisa

Update on Leche (Lady) and Java (Pearl)

Here is an nice 1 year update on Leche and Java...both adopted from POA.

Since last week marks our one-year adoption anniversary for Leche
(formerly Lady) and our two-year anniversary of adopting Java
(formerly Pearl), I thought I would drop you an update on them both.

Both of these girls continue to be great fun, and to be happy and
healthy.  They are proudly the center of attention at all family
gatherings, and they continue to be the best of friends to each other.
This past winter, particularly in the big blizzard we had, we
discovered just how much Java loves the snow, and how much Leche hates
it.  Java will recklessly dive through it, and Leche can't be bothered
- she would much rather sleep in front of our fireplace- which she did
did plenty this past winter!

Leche has a stuffed toy beaver that is nearly as big as her, but she
will carry it around in her mouth proudly with her tail wagging
furiously.  She likes to sleep with it nearby.

Attached are some newer pictures of them.  We also did a little hidden
camera video on them catching them in the act of going into the
garbage on St. Patrick's Day.  It's a silly little video but if you
want to see it you can check it out here:

Hope all is well with you and your organization.  I am sure you have
made many many families and dogs happy with your work.  We are lucky
and blessed to have the two great little girls you rescued for us.

Mike

Update on Eva

Here is an update on Eva, formally Eve.

Hi Laura,

I just wanted to send you a picture update of Eva (Eve). She is doing great! We also have two cats that we adopted from POA and she gets along great with both of them. One, Guster (as seen in the picture) is her new best friend. They sleep together and play together. In fact, Guster sneaks up on her, pokes her and runs away so that she'll chase him. Its pretty funny to watch! I attached a picture of the two of them sleeping. She is such a good dog! She's a great listener and she loves the big window seat that overlooks the back yard. It has become her spot. I just wanted to tell you how happy both my husband and I are with her. We've had her for only 7 months but she is definitely a big part of our family now. Thank you!

Jen and Michael

Celia goes home.

It is with great pleasure that we send off Celia to her new parents, Donna and Nick.

A 1 year update from Parker

We love to hear how are dogs are doing no matter how long it has been since they have been adopted.  Here is a great update about Parker who was adopted nearly one year ago!

Hi, Laura -
Hope all is well with you and everyone at the shelter...
It's been quite a while since I updated you on Parker....he's just a little love and has become a very big part of our family!  It's hard to believe that April 27 will be a year since Parker found us.  I've attached some pictures I thought you might enjoy.
Parker continues to absolutely love his feline brother Obie (many times I see him with half of Obie's head in his mouth - wants to play with him every waking moment).  Zoe (our 12-year old cat), on the other hand, puts Parker in his place and shows him who's boss.  It doesn't stop him though - he continues to try and chase her, only to quickly turn around and try to run away from her - it's like a sitcome at times!
I've also included a picture of Parker as he looked when we picked him up from the shelter...  it's just amazing how different he looks!  He's still a little peanut weighing in at 12-13 lbs...  has a lot of friends at Camp Bow Wow doggy daycare, as well as on our street.  He commands a lot of attention and will definitely let you know when he's not receiving enough!
Take care, Laura!

Sharon

Here are some photos...this first photo is how Parker looked when he was adopted.  The newt few show him as he is now (with a better haircut) in his home!

Rusty is so smart!

Duet now Glen Update!!

This is Duet. I did change her name, I'm calling her Glen. She seems to be adjusting well. She was a little cautious the first few days, not eating much, but that ended quickly. I have a long hallway in my apartment that she likes to run up and down and she really loves the bathroom, which is really funny. Sometimes she'll just go sit in the tub, other times she'll wrestle with the shower curtain. She loves to drink from the sink.
Overall she's been a pretty seemless addition. I'm actually taking her for her first vet visit on Saturday.
Thanks for everything,
Jordyn O'Donovan

Pia now Olivia Update!!

Thank you guys for everything. She's very happy at her new home.

She's being introduced to the other animals slowing and doing great we hope in two weeks she's playing and living with the other pets she loves her own room but she's wondering around at her own pace she's very happy. She loves to chase everything and found a paper bag that if you move it she attacks it and lays on it. This chair is her chair she loves to lay and play on it shes a very happy kitten

Thank you so much,
The Sidorski family

Tiny Tim (not so tiny anymore!!) Update

Tiny Tim was a 3-legged kitten who found this awesome home. Here is an update.

With his new girlfriend Rose
Tim is a perfect fit for our home. He has become very confident and friendly- quite a purr machine. He loves to play and not having his 4th leg doesn't limit him in any way- he takes on any challenge with gusto!

Thank you for connecting us with him.

The king of the hill

Tiger and Talker Update!

Tigger and Midnight, as they are now known, are enjoying some time near the fireplace, trying to get the last heat coming out. Thanks for another two great animals. Zima (Linda) is also doing well.

Janet Gangaway

Sweetie aka Lola Update!

I have in fact changed her name to Lola and she's doing wonderful. I work a 9 - 5 job and she seems perfectly happy having the apartment to herself all day. She eats a mixture of wet and dry food (fed 2 - 3 times per day) and loves playing with her toys. She will spend hours bolting around the apartment chasing toys and her tail! She loves to play fetch as well - she brings her ball to me and drops it in my hand to throw for her, like a dog! I was worried about her being lonely, but I think she likes being an only child. We have bonded quite well and she's very comfortable with her surroundings. My apartment has floor-to-ceiling windows and she loves to sit and stare outside. She especially loved watching the blizzard here in Boston a few weeks ago!

My Cats from Protectors of Animals

I adopted two kittens from Protectors of Animals. Here's an update on them and their contented life at my home.

I adopted Bear, a black cat with patch of white on his chest and green eyes, perhaps five years ago - I am really bad with time and dates. He is a really sweet cat and sleeps my by side every night. He is quite docile, except when he's hungry and becomes quite animated to get my attention to feed him!

About three years ago I adopted an orange tiger named Trig - I renamed him Jack Kerouac after the author of my favorite book - "On the Road." Jack is a very loving cat who will jump onto my lap whenever I am sitting. He loves to be held and purrs loudly when being stroked. He (gently) paws at my face to wake me up each morning. Such little devils!

In any case, here is a picture of my two adoptees from POA. Good kitties. If the people who fostered these cats when they were kittens are still active with your organization, please assure them that they did a wonderful job raising them and that they are in a good home - very well taken care of. They get to spend most of the summer in Maine each year when they sit in the windows and watch the water and seagulls.

Murray Update!

Waggy as ever, Murray looked great and still the happy boy we all remember.  Lisa said from his first visit there he was very shy and insecure and tried to hide while at the training class.  Even with it all they're still very much in love with him and vice versa and they thank us for all of our hard work.

updated to POA by Matt

Baby now Obsidian "SID" for short Update!

Sid is doing well, is still very cuddly, loves looking out the windows, and sleeping on his favorite chair.  He is picky with his wet food, but we've found a couple of kinds that is likes a lot, so that's good.  So, we're pretty much settled in a routine, and are enjoying it!

Lorna & Griffin Happy Kitties Update!

           LORNA
                &
          GRIFFIN

Lorna is very sweet.  I'm able to pet her and she loves that -- purrs up a storm and rolls around in her bed.  She has started to hang out downstairs more, so I know she is feeling more safe and comfortable.

Griffin his new name is Cliff.  He is a character.  It took him maybe 2 hours tops to get acclimated.  Some of his favorite things are bathing, bird / squirrel watching, running and walking through the house wild-boy meowing.  He also likes to play and is very curious.  All in all, they are good kids and I am really happy to have them in my life.  I really hope all the animals there can be placed in loving homes regardless of their age.

Misty now Missy the Happy Kitty Update!

Missy (aka Misty), we renamed her.  She is doing so well!!!  Her appetite is very good and our other cat Shadow loves her!  They play and get along so well together!  We are so lucky that they get along.  Missy is still a little shy with us sometimes, but she really loves to cuddle.  We took her for her first vet appointment because I wanted to make sure everything was okay with her.  The vet says she is very healthy.  We are so happy Missy is a part of our family!  Thank you for introducing us to Missy.
