Tippy Toes

Tippy Toes is an awsome cat.  He is so sweet and loving.  He likes to cuddle and boy does he like to purr. He and Buster  get along very well.  Buster is a 13 year old ginger cat and Tippy Toes loves to jump over him and cuddle with him.  Tippy Toes also likes bird watching out the guest bedroom and kitchen windows which are both level with a tree that the birds love to congregate in.  The first week he was with me Tippy Toes took all the wand toys and placed them on my bed where he sleeps.  He loves toys and has a basket full of them. 

Phantom

Phantom has brought SO much joy to our house! His comedic antics keep us laughing all the time. He spends a good deal of time during the day watching the birds that come to the feeder outside our kitchen window. He has also adopted a corner of the sofa as his favorite sleeping place. We love him!!!

Nemo

Nemo is doing great, he eats well and has moved in quite comfortably.

Watson

Watson is doing EXCELLENT! He basically rules the house, always putting his two puppy siblings in their place if they get out of hand! Recently we adopted a 8 week old calico kitten and she thinks Watson is the best big brother! Watson has accepted her into our home well, today we caught the two snuggling and he was washing her! He truly is a special boy, and while not overly affectionate, he is perfect for us! And he has done a fine job of mousing, he got 7 in a two week period!

Kittle

Kittles is doing wonderful. She made herself at home instantly, and the whole family loves her. We have friends come over just to play with her, she's very playful and spends the day running around and loves being around people. 

Poppy

Poppy is adapting well to his new home.

Nero

Nero is doing just fine.  Within a day of being here he found the couch, so now one end is his with his bed.  Licorice is a pest to him but overall they are getting along.  I’d say he was depressed for a little while, but recently seems to have perked up and comes to me when I feed him. His foster mother and I are in contact and she sent some little homemade catnip presents, which was very sweet.

Scout a.k.a Susie

Susie now named Scout is doing well and was not shy at all once she got home! She is quite feisty but also very sweet. 

Helga

When Helga came out of the carrier she was not afraid at all and spent some time exploring. She checked out her new litter box and came running when she heard the can of food pop open. Afterwards she washed up and then the neatest thing: she went up to me with her tail high and stared up at him to let him know she was happy.

Maddie formerly Blossom

Blossom (now Maddie) is doing great! She’s wonderful company for me (as I work out of my home) and her playfulness keeps us entertained every day. She’s been spoiled with lots of toys and her own huge cat tower – she rules the roost! 

Fuzziwig a.k.a Reily

Reilly was totally petrified of everyone and any movement when we first brought him home. Things slowly progressed and within the past month he's decided he's head over heals for us and just can't seem to get enough love. He is now named Fuzziwig, a character from Dickens A Christmas Carol, as he was adopted in December, he's jolly and round, and he kneads the floor when you pet him making him look like he's doing a dance.  He also gets along great with his two brothers Stubby (also via POA) and Mr. Kitka.

Jeremy

It has been three weeks since we brought Jeremy home, he is settling in and finding his way here.  He is definitely still a scaredy cat, but is making progress every day! 

Dante, Artie and Coco

Dante has the guts and gumption of a true champion. He has adjusted remarkably fast. He roams the house incessantly. We are amazed at how much he “chirps”, and in love with the way he comes up on your chest for affection, brushing up against your face and kissing/licking us all over. He stares out the windows at great length, to study the woodpeckers and bright red cardinals at their feeders. He is a kook, and we love him for it.

Artie is adjusting much slower but we know that some cats just adapt slower. He has not explored the actual living spaces much, and chooses to hide out in the basement. We brought him back upstairs into our bedroom last night so he could sleep with us. He did come out from under the bed and join me about midnight, and he was very happy to receive gentle pets and loving soft words. He roamed the bedroom, used his box, and even ate dry food.

They are both VERY freaked out by the mirror on our dresser and the full mirror on the back of our bedroom door. As soon as Artie saw this in the morning, he reverted back to heavy duty fear. We let him back out to visit the rest of the house, and Dante stayed by his side every second. This time, he did explore the living area a bit. Then trooped downstairs to assume his position tucked and safe. Sigh. We are in high hopes that he will slowly begin to explore, most likely tonight when it is dark. Dante is missing his buddy, but knows where he is and I think is being quite patient with him.

As far as our senior female cat Cocoa, she is doing well.  It is clear that the trick with Dante is being vocal. When he comes on strong, or gets directly in her face, he refuses to back down unless she growls. Then he instantly backs off to study her.

She is not interacting with him much at this point, but her eyes are no longer dilated in fear, and she even attempts to play with her own crunchy balls after watching him play with his. She only growls when he comes within a foot of her, otherwise, she just watches him with curiosity. I suspect, if things continue at this pace (with Artie coming back upstairs to enjoy his new world) that she will be a bit grumpy for 3 -4 weeks, and then she’ll relax.

Tiger and Mokey (a.k.a Catapult and Io)

 

Tiger and Mokey, who are now named Catapult and Io. Catapult and Io took a bit of time to get used to their new surroundings, us, and even each other, but after about a week they were playing, chasing, snuggling and being normal kittens.

We want to say thank you to you guys at protectors of animals, for doing everything you do! We did find the video of young Tiger before he had his one leg surgery, and we are truly so grateful that he was able to get the proper care and treatment thanks to you and such awesome donors.  It makes us so happy to see him chasing toys around and even chasing his sister around - a perfectly healthy cat!

The socialization work you guys did with Mokey has given her a confidence and curiosity that we just adore.

We are truly so happy to have Catapult and Io in our family.

Mim (a.k.a Samantha)

Samantha is doing great, we've re-named her Mim like the witch from the movie The Sword in the Stone. She immediately took to everyone at our house, it took them about a week to get used to her but now they all play and she and our other cat Beau are inseparable

Sylvie (a.k.a Skye)

Skye (we call her Sylvie now) is doing great. She seems to be very happy and healthy. She loves people and always wants to be by my side. She isn't shy or afraid of anything! She has been a great friend and addition to the family, and I am grateful to the POA and Martha for being so accommodating in helping us arrange to pick her up on a holiday. Martha also gave us some toys and a cat bed and some medicine--making things a lot easier for us. Sylvie is a doll and always doing something cute so I have lots of pictures to share.

Zoey

Zoey is still in her private room. She hid for 48 hrs, but since then we have slowly progressed to where she lets me pick her up and stays on my lap for over an hour. She loves to be patted and scratched. Now she is even purring. She is eating and drinking well. We are happy! Sorry, don't know how to add a picture, but imagine her stretched out on my lap... And head butting.

Ciopino (a.k.a Bogey)

Bogey now Ciopino has settled in to his new forever home. He likes to sit at my desk with me as I work. He is getting along with both Tobey & Nabu, has a voracious appetite, and he’s even started playing “tag” with Tobey. He’s a good boy, I am glad he adopted us.

Oliver

I adopted Oliver a few weeks ago and am proud to say he is adjusting great.

Jade (a.k.a Jonathan)

Jonathan now Jade, our new furry son, is doing quite well.  He is cuddling us, playing, and trying hard to make friends with our 10 year old Tortie who at this time still hates the sight of him. He runs after her and she will hiss, spit and growl. I now know where the term hissy fit came from!  We love Jade and he is transitioning to raw food easily.  I fed my other cats ground turkey or chicken with bone meal and they were quite healthy on it. Jade e is happy and well loved.

Lucky (a.k.a Loki)

The addition of Lucky now Loki to our family was a bit over a month ago. He has brightened up our home and cuddled his way into our hearts. He is doing well and spends his day playing and getting spoiled by our love. 

Kumari (a.k.a Tasha)

I have renamed Tasha, Kumari which is princess. She was exactly what I was looking for in a forever  friend.  She has many places in the house to explore. When she decides to rest she will find some out of the way place to lay her head or she will sit in front of the glass door and soak up the sun,  She loves to play with all her new toys and uses her scratch box and post often.

Watson

It's been a week with our dear Watson and it's going great!!! He has made friends with my puppies, going as far as actually playing with them! He teases them something fierce as well!! He will get cuddly with me on his terms, and I'm good with that! He loves being held and buries his head in my neck when held. He has settled in so nicely, and is such a perfect fit for our family! We love him loads!

Clooney

As soon as we got Clooney home we opened up his carrier and he came out immediately.  He took a quick tour of the living room and then perched himself on a chair.  Our kids were really good about giving him his space. Our two other cats came out to see what was happening.  Bootoo was a little hesitant but Clancy stood up on his hind legs and gave Clooney kisses as to say "I'm so glad that you are here" and Clooney started to purr.I woke up around 3 a.m. and Clooney had come upstairs and was sitting in the doorway of our bedroom. He hopped up on the bed and slept with us for the rest of the night (while Clancy sat on the end of the bed and stared at him.)

When I left for work this morning, he was reclining on my bed with the mouse that you sent home in his goody bag.  We plan on slowly introducing Clooney to our dogs in the next few days. He shows no signs of fear when he hears them bark so I think that is a good sign.We are in love with our new boy!

2nd update - Clooney is great!  He has full run of our house but he mostly stays on the second floor. He sleeps every night on the top bunk with our son, Rylan. We introduced him to the dogs last weekend and they didn't phase him one bit.  He plays hide and go seek with our cairn terrier and he rubs against our german shepherds! He seems to like the dogs a little more than our cats. The cats all get along but he doesn't play with them like he does with the dogs. He is loving to me if nobody else is around. I am mainly the one who feeds him but he seems to favor my husband Michael and our 9 year old son, Rylan. Clooney sleeps on top of Rylan every night! He was sleeping on his bunk bed when I left for work this morning. He spends a lot of time in the boy's bedroom. He will tolerate our other son and daughter but he doesn't seek them out. Our daughter's feelings were hurt at first because she couldn't understand why he wouldn't want to be with her but she knows that every kitty is different and this is just Clooney's way. 

Butterscotch

Today marks one full week Butterscotch has come home. We have come to call her Boo. If we had to use one word to describe the experience, it would be "awesome".  She is the most loving creature I have ever come across, whenever she comes into a room, she just has to see you and  she starts talking, she always has a lot to say.  The first two days she stayed in the closet coming out every couple of hours for some pets. I think she was checking to make sure we were still here. She is spending more and more time with us, playing and being a goofball. She has even taken to chasing her own tail!
Her favorite spot is sitting on the radiator or bookcase looking out the window talking to anything that crosses her path. She is pure joy.

Louie

I'm currently studying on the floor in Louie's room. At first Louie was at a distance, but after a short while he slowly got closer and climbed into the cat bed Jon and I made him. It makes me really happy that he's comfortable enough already to take a nap with me only a few feet away.

Watson

Watson has been home for a day and I just wanted to share that he's doing better than I imagined! He's inspected every inch of the house, and when the dogs bother him too much, he gives a growl and swat with a paw and they back off. He's not afraid of a thing! He's even purred while being pet! He seems to be a perfect fit for our family!

Mack

Mack loves his new home and his people. Came right out of the carrier and wanted to explore. He spent the night relaxing on the couch between my parents watching tv with them and jumped right up in bed with them when they went to sleep. He has made himself right at home with them. A big THANK YOU to all the volunteers at POA!!!

Teddy

Teddy is doing amazing, and a month ago he started PURRING. It just warmed my heart. Him and Keishi are good buddies, they look like twins, and I get to pick him up for short periods without him being scared.I just LOVE this boy and happy he loves us too.

Keishi is the one with the crooked ear. He was another POA kitty, formerly known as Phoenix

Zoey (formerly known as Kyra)

 Zoey (formerly known as Kyra) has come a long way since the first day she came home. It took just a day to get her to come out from under the bed and come for some pats and play. Of course, she was under the bed most of the time, but as soon as I'd come in and sit on the floor she'd come out to me. When I went to bed at night she would be out and about playing with her toy mouse. 

It was less than a week that I opened the bedroom door to let her roam freely. And that is just what she did. She would go use the living room litter box more than the bedroom one. She loves to sit in the living room window all day while I work. Or just curl up and sleep on one of the dining room chairs. And when I'm on the couch watching TV she'll jump up there with me:

Then... 3 nights ago... she leaped up onto the bed and that was the beginning of a whole different world. She found that using my leg as a pillow is a wonderful thing. Every night since, she's been starting out sleeping on the bed with me. I've bought her two beds, one for the floor and one for on my bed but she'll have none of that... wants to be right on the sheets/blankets. At some point in the night she jumps down and goes about her business, but at least she starts out with me. I think she's come a long way for having less than two weeks with me.

Blaze

My handsome boy Blaze is such a sweet loving spit fire addition to our family. He brings me much happiness and is the best cat ever. 

Fiona, formerly Pia

Pia is perfect!  She has settled in beautifully and has stolen everyone's heart. She's snuggly and playful and a total sweetheart with a tiny bit of sass.  We have renamed her Fiona and it seems to fit her well. 

Mario renamed Linus

My father came for Christmas dinner and met Mario for the first time. 

Skye

Everything is great with Skye. We are so happy. She is eating well, using the litter box, and being a total cuddle bug. My husband and I are both head over heels for her--she spends all of her time snuggled up next to one of us. She adjusted to the apartment almost immediately and she's just so easy going, it's hard to believe. She is really the brightest part of my day. 

Nina(a.k.a. Penny

Nina is perfect! She warmed up to me and my boyfriend right away! She loves to cuddle in bed and play fetch!

Cookie (a.k.a. Angie)

Angie (now "Cookie") is the best cat ever! She came home today and is eating well, using the litter box and comes up to all of us to be pet and is now curled up next to me on the couch. She is sneezing a little but seems in great spirits and incredibly friendly. She is right at home!

Ben

We adopted Ben on 12/19/15, he took less than 5 hours to explore his new home and start building a relationship with our German Shepherd Katy. He's happy, healthy and loved. He purrs whenever he has your attention and is an attention hog!! He's about 15 pounds and eats like a horse. We just love this new furry family member. Thanks POA for saving Ben!

Chloe

It's been 5 weeks since I brought Chloe to my home. She has started to come into the living room if I am there and loves looking out the window.  I was able to snap the picture of her by my Christmas tree - and a dusty cactus!  With our warmer than usual December weather she loves to go out in my sunroom that has sliders for her to look out which are the other photos.

Loki and Chewy (formerly Seamus)

 Loki and Chewy (formerly Seamus) are wonderful pets . We appreciate the good start they got with their foster families. The kitties are playful, sweet and very easy going.  They quickly became best buds with my sons.
